Fridays After Five
Each Friday during Bike Month, Fridays after Five will have a free bike valet! Bike to the Pavilion, and we’ll handle the parking. Each week volunteers work the concessions on behalf of a variety of bike-friendly nonprofits who share in the proceeds, including Charlottesville Community Bikes, the Charlottesville Area Mountain Bike Club (CAMBC), and the Rivanna Trails Foundation.
The summer schedule features local artists performing a wide range of musical styles and will see collaborations with a number of local organizations, celebrating the diverse and creative communities throughout Charlottesville; there is truly something for everyone. Unwind each Friday evening at this fabulous and FREE Charlottesville institution.
Blue Ridge Cyclery O-Hill Ride
John from BRC Downtown will be leading a weekly Thursday evening mountain bike ride at Observatory Hill! Ride will last for one-hour and the route will change based on group size, ability, and desire to session features.
Endeavor Cycles Mountain Bike Ride
Meet at the shop at 5 pm every Wednesday, roll out at 5:30. All skill levels and abilities are welcomed and encouraged! This will be a mountain bike ride, and we will most likely check out the O-Hill trails across the street, and whatever else we feel inspired to do. Don't have a bike to ride? Let us know! We will work with you to help you get rolling.
Blue Wheel Group MTB Rides
The Tuesday night shop ride is a local mountain bike ride led by Blue Wheel representatives. Everyone is welcome. All skill levels are encouraged to join. This year, depending on participation, we're planning to offer two ride groups: Group Shred and Group Social. The shred group will be fast-paced, while the social group will be a more gentle pace and encouraging of beginner riders. Sometimes we start at Blue Wheel, and sometimes we'll meet at the trailhead. Check the banner of our website for updates. The only requirements are:
must wear helmet
must have mountain bike (with front suspension fork)
must have PMA (Positive Mental Attitude)
kids younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult
must have spare tube
lights are strongly encouraged
Our rides gather at 6:15pm and we try our best to be off the trails by dark. Weather cancellations will be announced on the banner of our website.
Preddy Creek Beginners Ride
We’ll roll from the parking lot at 6:00.
Although this ride is geared toward those new to mountain biking that want help with basic riding technique and tips on trail riding, all riding levels are welcome. Pace will be casual to moderate and we’ll ride for 1.5 hours or so. We can break up into groups according to pace preference.
Don't forget your helmet, water bottle, spare tube/repair kit.
Sunday Funday Beginner Road Ride
Join us every Sunday morning for a group road ride in the Charlottesville, Virginia area! We'll meet at a different location each week, including our Downtown shop on Preston Ave. This is a beginner to intermediate ride. Pace will be beginner / casual, but some comfort with sharing the road with motorists and light climbing ability is required. You'll need a road bike and water/fluids. Our pace will be 10 to 14 mph, depending on group fitness level.

Crozet Elementary E-bike Demo
Curious about e-bikes? Join us at Crozet Elementary School for test-rides and conversations with local e-bike riders, plus bikes from the Charlottesville E-bike Lending Library.
Bring the whole family! Alongside the e-bike demos, the Albemarle County Police Department’s Bike Team will be on-site to share valuable bike safety knowledge to young riders. Children are invited to bring their bikes and take part in an exciting riding course.
Rivanna RiverFest
Join us from 2-5 PM at the Rivanna River Company for family-friendly activities, fun on the river, exhibitors and demonstrations, food trucks, and drinks. At 5 PM, we’ll transition into a celebration with a live performance by Hometown Choir. Then, dance the night away with a FREE concert by We Are Star Children starting at 6 PM.
Loop de 'Ville Monthly Walk: Fontaine to Ivy Rd
Join us every month for a free guided walk along the Rivanna Trail. Each month we will walk a different section, usually around 5 total miles, as we gear up for the Loop de’Ville Trail Fest in September.
This month we are walking the trail from Fontaine Research Park to Ivy Rd. Most of the trail will be on dirt and uneven terrain but there is a tricky road crossing too. Check the weather report and make sure to dress appropriately.
Registration is not required and everyone is welcome! Meet at the RTF tent next to the trailhead in the back right corner when entering the campus (Construction at Fontaine Research Park might change the start location but we will update this when we get closer).

UVA-HS Spring E-bike Demo Day
Come test ride a selection of e-bikes to celebrate national Bike to Work week! If you are curious about switching to this healthy and sustainable mode of transportation, this a great opportunity to test e-bikes before making a commitment.
Neighborhood Community Walk: Johnson Village
What: Every 2nd Sunday of the month we will lead a walk through one of Charlottesville’s neighborhoods.
This month we will meet at the Johnson Elementary School and explore the Johnson Village neighborhood. This walk will be roughly 2.5 miles on even terrain. We are going to explore some areas that need better pedestrian improvements; including sidewalks and crosswalks but this is an opportunity for all of us to get to know our city better, learn from our neighbors and see where there are places to build a better, more connected community.

Rivanna Trail Foundation Work Party
Trail maintenance work parties occur the second Saturday of each month from 9:00-11:30. Everyone is welcome, and we have tasks suitable for all ages and skill levels. We send an email before each month's work party - if you're not already a member, sign up for our email list.

Walk, Bike & Roll to School Day
May 8th is National Bike, Walk & Roll to School Day! Grab some friends, skip the school drop-off line, and get a healthy start to your day. Some local schools will be hosting welcome stations the morning of the 8th. Check back to see which schools have signed up.
